This is what happened in less than 24 hours...

We are located between Wasilla and Northeast Anchorage as the crow flies. We received more than enough of our fair share - ha! It's slowly melting not with temps in the upper 30's but there's still 6 inches on our deck as I type this. Only one lamb born overnight, a healthy ram lamb to the unregistered flock. The registered girls are holding out for ransom grain I believe....

THE HISTORIC STORM THAT AFFECTED THE ANCHORAGE AREA ON APRIL 25-262008 BEGAN AS LIGHT RAIN SHOWERS. SNOW BEGAN TO MIX WITH RAIN IN THEEARLY MORNING HOURS AND CHANGED OVER TO ALL SNOW AROUND 9AM ON THEFRIDAY THE 25TH. THE HEAVIEST SNOW FELL BETWEEN 3PM AND 6PM AT A RATE OF ALMOST 2 INCHES AN HOUR. SNOWFALL TOTALS WERE UNIFORM ACROSS ANCHORAGE AS THE HILLSIDE RECEIVED AROUND THE SAME AMOUNT AS LOWER ELEVATION LOCATIONS. SNOW STORM TOTALS AS OF 10 AM ADT THIS MORNING:

AT THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE ON SAND LAKE ROAD THE SEASONALSNOWFALL TOTAL IS NOW 109.1 INCHES. THIS MAKES THE WINTER OF 2007-2008 THE 6TH SNOWIEST ON RECORD FOR ANCHORAGE.
